3 Fun Exciting Dr. Seuss Activities

Do you love all the silly rhymes and imagination Dr. Seuss bring to the classroom? If so, keep reading for 3 fun and exciting Dr. Seuss activities that are sure to bring joy to a child that go along with The Foot Book.

Dr. Seuss Activities: Foot Tracing and Measuring

First book to read is the Foot Book here is a simple Dr. Seuss activity to do with kids. First have kids trace their foot on a plain piece of paper and then let them decorate their foot. After they are done, use a non-standard form of measurement to measure their foot. Added bonus if you are in the classroom, laminate all the pages and turn it into a class book where kids can compare the sizes of each classmates foot.

Dr. Seuss Activities: Sensory Walk

This second activity is such a simple Dr. Seuss activity to set up. Just find things around your house or classroom that can be stepped on ( however, somethings might get smashed, so just be prepared). We used these art trays from Target to hold all of the things we collected and even taped some down. Here are some things we used:

  • empty paper towel rolls
  • basket filler (think Easter basket)
  • cray paper
  • packaging paper
  • pouch tops
  • bubble wrap
  • plastic tablecloth
  • small wooden blocks

Next set up a walk around your house or classroom with all of the things that you have collected. After that, invite kids to take off their shoes so that they can feel all the different textured on their feet. Get ready for all the giggles that will accrue while they walk on this sensory path.

Dr. Seuss Activities: Feet Painting

Lastly is this amazingly messy, but oh so rewarding feet painting. I was blessed with an amazing co-teacher that would do this every year with the kids. First she would roll out butcher paper and pick 5 to 6 paint colors. Straightaway the kids would start to giggle and the end result made for an amazing bulletin back drop!
