Owl Party

Ever since I got married almost 3 years ago, I have had a thing for owls. They became part of our wedding, my bridal shower, my baby shower, the theme of our nursery, and so on. So it was an easy choice to make owls the theme for Ave’s first birthday!
I started with making these owl invitations (with the help for my mom) I found an owl patter I liked here. I used old scrapbook paper I had and each invitation was different. This was on of my favorite 🙂
For decoration my aunts made these owls out of tissue pompoms I found at my local dollar tree, but I found similar ones here at amazon. We only fluffed them up halfway and put them on the wall. You could also fluff them all the way and hang them from the ceiling.
Instead of a cake I chose to do owl cupcakes. I like cupcakes because everyone takes one, and you don’t have people who want really small pieces of cake and then you are left with a lot of left over cake. My mom did an awesome job at making these. We just used boxed cake mix and followed the directions on the box to bake. Then we used mini Oreos for the eyes ( tip: we had to add extra frosting to get the m&m to stick and so they looked better). M&Ms were used for the eyes and the beak.
Hope you have a great Owl themed party! Let me know how your’s turned out 🙂
